Painting sold – View of the Ness by Jacqueline Hammond

Said goodbye to this painting today. It went to a customer who lives in Shaldon which is fitting as that’s the place in the distance, on the headland, The Ness, across the estuary of the River Teign, near Teignmouth in Devon. Where my family are from!

Two Poppy Paintings sold to collectors this week

Amazing how things go – I said farewell to not one but two key paintings from my Signification of the Poppy series this week.

One’s going to a friend who must’ve brought me good luck as the other one sold on my website a few days later! Yes it’s time to paint some more.

SOLD! Breakthrough by Jacqueline Hammond , acrylics on canvas, 60x60cm

This painting ‘Breakthrough’ has been very popular, a best-selling print even, but for some reason I’ve hung on to it. That is until an old friend who had his eye on it several years ago got in touch to see if it was still available. I’m really pleased its going to a good home, and made someone I know really chuffed.

The other poppy painting sold on my website a few days later. ‘Field of Dreams’ is a larger canvas featuring a dreamy, imaginary landscape with fields of poppies bursting with life and colour.

Saltdean coastline – seascape commission almost finished

The 2 metre wide seascape I’m painting in oils is almost there. Just waiting on the sky to dry to give it another layer then I can paint in the starlings. Should be finished by the weekend.

Jacqueline Hammond’s Art print deckchairs on The Alan Titchmarsh Show – Friday 26th October 2012 ITV 3-4pm

Summer might be over for the rest of us in the UK but for Alan Titchmarsh the grass is always greener and it’s never too late to enjoy sitting in a deckchair in the garden. For those in warmer climates or with a holiday home abroad, snap up one of my art print deckchairs as Alan Titchmarsh will be talking about them on his show this Friday 26th October, 3-4pm on ITV.

My poppy pieces are popular with visitors at exhibitions. This deckchair uses a detail from a painting in The Signification of the Poppy series. It was originally going to be used for a garden makeover programme with Titchmarsh but it was decided he’d prefer to feature them on The Alan Titchmarsh Show.

Painting to be Auctioned in Aid of Teenage Cancer Trust

I have donated this painting to an auction in aid of the Teenage Cancer Trust to be held on Thursday 14th June 2012 at 7.30pm at Wickwoods Country Club in Hassocks.

The Groyne Series – “Sit and Throw”
(Acrylics on Canvas, black frame, 40x40cm)

‘Sit and Throw’ is an early piece in a popular series titled ‘The Groyne Series’ that depicts teenagers and kids having fun and hanging out on the stone walled sea groynes along the shoreline of the beach where I live in Brighton. Often submerged, the groynes are revealed as the tide changes and make ideal platforms for jumping into the sea or ‘tomb stoning’, as it’s referred to in the media.

The series came about from observing these lively activities on those (rare) sunny days spent by the seaside at my local beach, although people often remark that the scene could be anywhere in the world. The silhouettes of the figures are defined against the brightness of the sky, evoking fond memories of the height of summer.

Several in this series have already been sold at previous exhibitions. All the initial mini 10x10cm paintings have been snapped up, but this is the first 40 x 40 cm canvas in the series. To view the other works in the series take a look at The Groyne Series Gallery on my website.

Local established artists have kindly donated work to be auctioned off in a Silent Auction format.  Each painting will be assigned a number and there will be ballot points where you are able to fill out your contact details and the highest amount you wish to bid on the painting. Teenage Cancer Trust is the only UK charity dedicated to improving the quality of life and chances of survival for the six young people aged between 13 and 24 diagnosed with cancer every day.

Artists include: myself (obviously) Karen Burt, Claire Fearon, Romany Mark Bruce, Julieanne Gilbert, Grant DeJonge & Julia Schultz and many more…

All proceeds from the auction will go to the Teenage Cancer Trust.

Any Queries please contact Karen on karenannburt@aol.com
