Sit Pretty This Summer with Art Print Deckchairs from Jacqueline Hammond

For those seeking a stylish seating experience this summer, Brighton-based artist, Jacqueline Hammond ( http://www.jacqueline-hammond.com ), has the answer to ‘sitting pretty’ without the need to visit a scenic location in person. Thanks to Jacqueline’s series of Art Print  Deckchairs that reproduce her popular scenic artworks on to the canvas sling, people can enjoy the seaside, pastoral Spanish setting or country lane from the comfort of their own back garden or patio.

The freshly launched and freshly painted ‘Life’s a Beach’ deckchair invites people to repose on Brighton beach from somewhere less stony. The deckchair cleverly reproduces Jacqueline’s original painting of a tidal scene, depicted from a bird’s eye view and in a painterly style, with detailed studies of people spending a day beside the seaside. Divided in half by the shoreline, the canvas sling features the full panoramic stretch of the beach, with such a finely detailed reproduction of the sand and sea that the user may wonder if the paint is wet! When Jacqueline exhibited this piece in Brighton, several art dealers wanted to buy it.

The ‘Country Lane’ deckchair, with its enticing avenue of trees, is based on Jacqueline’s painting, ‘Mum’s Drive Home’. It depicts an atmospheric drive down a winding road from the South Devon coastal town, Teignmouth, over Haldon Hill / Forest to Jacqueline’s home town of Chudleigh. Her mother used to commute using that route and the painting was produced in her memory.

With its pleasing perspective, it evokes the feeling of travelling down a country lane with the roof down, feeling the cooling breeze, seeing dancing dappled sun spots, anticipating finding a tucked-away rural pub or picnic spot.

Third in the series, the ‘Santa Fe Fields’ deckchair is based on a scene at the Santa Fe hot springs near Granada in Spain, which are popular for their naturally beautiful bathing opportunity. With its smattering of poppies bursting with colour and dotting the landscape, it reproduces a pastoral idyll and evokes ideas of picnics in spring meadows, a summer ramble across country to a private spot to while away an afternoon, time spent contemplating life in a tranquil setting. This deckchair will create a slice

of the country life in even the tiniest and greyest back yard.

Built around a sturdy hardwood frame with a teak oil finish, measuring H105cm x D102cm x W56cm, each deckchair features a heavy duty cotton canvas that is fully washable. The standard sling measures 117/18 x 43cm. The deckchair can be adjusted to three different reclining positions and folded flat for storage purposes.

Jacqueline Hammond says: “The Art Print Deckchairs are part contemporary art, part must-have beach or garden accessory. Be the envy of your friends this summer with a seating experience that puts plain, boring deckchairs to shame!”

Jacqueline is planning to reproduce more of her works on to canvas deckchairs, and has also printed her paintings on to hand-finished fabric lampshades and cushions. Best-selling designs include those based on her ‘Signification of the Poppy’ series.

Contemporary British artist, Jacqueline Hammond, is renowned for producing strong, punchy images that are rich in texture and colour. A prolific painter and multidisciplinary artist, she exhibits widely and is commissioned by individual clients, collectors and high profile brands. Jacqueline’s inspiration comes from direct observation: subject matter is plucked from the world encountered every day. Some ideas evolve, others are reactionary. Thought-provoking themes explore today’s society, the media and cultural theory. Whether inspired by the street or the sea, Jacqueline’s work has an edge: her paintings are consistently striking. Her natural disposition is to let the paint dictate the creative process, trusting the medium and her mind’s eye to translate the vision.
