Book launch for Brighton’s Artists 2014

On Saturday I (escaped domestic life and) went along to Gallery40 in the North Laines to celebrate the launch of ‘Brighton’s Artists,’ a book in which my work is listed. The coffee table book format is a first but I was originally featured in an early issue of Brighton’s Arty Magazine back in 2009.

Brighton’s Arty Magazine was dreamed up by Torben and Alison Krog. They applied 40 years’ of publishing experience to produce a magazine that celebrates the creative talents on their doorstep.

About this book:

Ten magazines, four directories, one charity art auction and a pop-up gallery later, we’re delighted to launch the very first book by Kemp Street Productions. And although it’s our names on the cover, we hope that everyone who bought into the concept will share our sense of ownership. Brighton’s Artists 2014 has only been possible due to the support and trust we have received from the tremendously talented creative community we live in. We think this may be the first publication of its kind. And there’s only one city that could have produced it. That’s Brighton & Hove.

On the website  –

In the Editions area you’ll find back issues of Brighton’s Arty Magazines and Directories since we first launched in 2009. The People section brings together many of the fabulous artists we have featured over the past four years. About artbyjaxx

Contemporary British artist, Jacqueline Hammond, is renowned for producing strong, punchy images that are rich in texture and colour. A prolific painter and multidisciplinary artist, she exhibits widely and is commissioned by individual clients, collectors and high profile brands. Jacqueline’s inspiration comes from direct observation: subject matter is plucked from the world encountered every day. Some ideas evolve, others are reactionary. Thought-provoking themes explore today’s society, the media and cultural theory. Whether inspired by the street or the sea, Jacqueline’s work has an edge: her paintings are consistently striking. Her natural disposition is to let the paint dictate the creative process, trusting the medium and her mind’s eye to translate the vision.
