This small vignette of a boy paddling in the sea on a sunny day at the seaside is one of a series titled ‘A Little Piece of the Beach.’ The paintings are closely detailed studies of people at the beach or in the sea, created as preliminary work for the ‘Life’s a Beach’ paintings which detail the whole panoramic of a beach from a bird’s eye point of view. The artist paints the shoreline vertically, dividing the canvas in half.
